Damning report as first private firm to run NHS hospital pulls out

‘The only NHS hospital run by a private company is the first hospital trust to have been branded uncaring by regulators who have called for it to be placed on special measures.

Regulators exposed a catalogue of concerns just hours after healthcare provider Circle announced plans to terminate its contract to run Hinchingbrooke NHS hospital.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found patients told to soil themselves, as call bells “routinely” went unanswered, with others left unwashed and in pain.’
