‘Barack Obama has told David Cameron he must commit to spending 2 per cent of national income on defence – or set a bad example to the rest of Europe.

The U.S. president used his summit meeting with the Prime Minister last month to stress that a failure to meet the Nato target would undermine the military alliance.
