Budget update

Last night the House of Representatives passed the version of the Republican budget containing the highest level of “defense” spending. The roll-call vote is here.

I  also have to correct an error in my blog post on the budget form yesterday. I said the increased defense spending would be placed in  the Overseas Contingency Operation (OCO) account. But this year the name of this account has been changed to “Global War on Terrorism.”

It will be much more difficult to ask Congress to reduce spending in a slush fund called  the “Global War on Terrorism” fund then one called”Overseas Contingency Operations.” Orwell would be impressed.

Campaign for Liberty continues to work for Real Cuts, Right Now in all areas of goverment spending.
