Julian Assange Expected to Be Set Free Next Week as Rape Allegations from Sweden Expire

‘The Times of London is reporting that Julian Assange is expected to be set free next week as three of his sexual assault claims are set to expire. The Wikileaks founder was never charged with any of the crimes, but prosecutors have had a warrant for his arrest for questioning — which many believed to be a precursor to formal charges.

Assange has been the guest of Ecuadorian government, hiding in their embassy for the past three-and-a-half years to avoid extradition. Last ditch efforts to “quiz” the Australian citizen reportedly fell through as Swedish officials came up against the August 18th deadline.

The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Julian Assange on August 20 2010 for two separate allegations – one of rape and one of molestation. Both women say that what started as consensual sex became non-consensual.
