Andy Burnham denies taking fake donor’s cash after newspaper’s ‘cash for access’ sting

‘Andy Burnham has denied taking cash for access from a foreign donor after The Sun said an undercover reporter had given £5,000 in return for a meeting.

The newspaper said that Faiz ul Rasool told a journalist who was posing as a wealthy donor that Mr Burnham needed money to help his Labour leadership bid.

The Sun reported that the fake donor met Mr Burnham at his campaign headquarters on Monday where the Labour MP chatted and posed for photographs after donating.’
