‘The BBC is attempting to slash hundreds of millions of pounds from its IT bills as it faces new pressure to increase efficiency under a new funding settlement with the Government.

Technology services giants are vying for a clutch of new outsourcing contracts as part of Project Aurora, a major overhaul instigated after years of failures under the current system.

The first of the big contracts, worth up to £230m of licence fee payers’ money over seven years and designed to connect various broadcasting and production facilities, is expected to be awarded soon, industry sources said.’
