‘British forces could be deployed to Syria to help set up ‘safe havens’ for refugees, David Cameron said yesterday.

The Prime Minister – who has previously ruled out the idea – said yesterday that the creation of safe zones was ‘certainly the right sort of thinking.’

He told MPs that Turkey and the US would need to contribute militarily, with Britain also potentially involved.

But he added that it would require a ‘very significant commitment’ to ensure these designated areas would be safe.’
