Obama orders US to take in 10,000 Syrian refugees

‘US President Barack Obama has ordered his administration to prepare to take in at least 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year, according to the White House.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said on Thursday Obama had asked staff to “scale up” the number of refugee admissions.

“He has informed his team that he would like them to make preparations to accept at least 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next fiscal year,” Earnest said.’
