At Least 60% of US Weapons Sent to Syria Have ‘Gone to Al-Qaeda and Its Affiliates’ — AP Investigation

‘The Associated Press has published a remarkably candid story about the CIA’s covert operation to train “moderate” Syrian rebels. Of course, the purpose of the AP report is to portray the CIA-armed “moderates” as underdog freedom fighters who have been betrayed by their U.S. “patrons” (“CIA-backed rebels in Syria, who had begun to put serious pressure on President Bashar Assad’s forces, are now under Russian bombardment with little prospect of rescue by their American patrons”).

But it’s hard to completely whitewash a CIA operation. If you can hold your nose long enough to read the first few paragraphs, you arrive at this:’
