“This morning, Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti with damaging winds of up to 145 mph and threatening up to 40 inches of rain, putting residents at risk of severe flooding, flash floods and landslides, and increasing a need for emergency healthcare. National and regional disaster management groups are mobilizing and positioning resources for the response including opening nearly 600 shelters, deploying medical resources, and emergency response personnel to serve on the ground.
