The Privatisation of the Health Service Steamrollers On: Virgin Wins £700 million Contract to provide NHS Care Services

Virgin Care was awarded a £700 million contract last night to run more than 200 NHS services, the first time a business will deliver a council’s social care for adults.
Bath and North East Somerset councillors voted unanimously in favour of the deal. It was approved by 35 votes to 22 at a council meeting in Bath.
The decision comes after a vote by health bosses at the council’s NHS clinical commissioning group (CCG), which agreed that the deal should go ahead.
