Michigan Lt. Governor Says Trade with China “Win-win”
bSpeaking to 3000 participants at a June 20-21 Detroit conference, organized by Alibaba CEO Jack Ma, Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley said of trade with China, “It’s the traditional win-win situation.” More than 600 Michigan small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as entrepreneurs from all over the country, attended the first ever conference of its kind organized in the U.S. by the e-commerce giant. “If you miss China, you miss the future,” Ma told the group of entrepreneurs at Cobo Center in Detroit.
The event, entitled Gateway 17, came two days after the Schiller Institutes successful conference entitled “Bring the New Silk Road to Michigan.” While the Alibaba event shows growing and intense interest in trade with China, participants in the Schiller Institute event undoubtedly got a more substantive understanding of the win-win paradigm.
