Work 160 years to earn what a top boss gets in one! FTSE 100 chiefs earned an average of £4.5million in 2016
‘The typical British worker would have to toil for 160 years to earn what top bosses are paid in just 12 months, according to figures published today.
Chief executives in the FTSE 100 index of leading companies earned an average of £4.5million in 2016, the report shows.
Although that was down from £5.4million the previous year, it was still 160 times higher than the average salary in the UK of £28,000.
The report, by the High Pay Centre think tank and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), warns that a ‘huge pay gap remains between the top and rest’.’
