It’s All About Scoring Cheap Political Points

With all the column inches spilled over Robert Mueller’s thirteen indictments issued on Friday very few of them have touched on the real revelation.

It’s not the obvious case of prosecutorial over-reach.  It isn’t the further subversion of the grand jury process by Federal Prosecutors unmoored from personal bias.

It isn’t the admission that no one on the Trump team knowingly colluded with Russian agents to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

It isn’t even that Former FBI Director Andrew McCabe doctored interview documents to secure a guilty plea from General Michael Flynn.

It’s not obvious collusion between his investigation and the media to hang a duly-elected President in the court of public opinion.

No.

The real revelation with Mueller’s indictments is that they represent the depths of how far our system has fallen from the ideals and principles it was founded upon.

The U.S. as a society exists solely for the purpose of the powerful to score cheap political points in the service of accumulating more power.

Anything or anyone that says no to that will be hounded via a set of Byzantine rules by corrupt thugs like Mueller who feel no shame whatsoever in presenting the most laughable charges as credible in public to serve a predetermined outcome.

In this case, impeach a President and over-turn an election.

Shadows Over Parkland

That Mueller went public with these indictments the same day the FBI was having literally the worst day in the agency’s history only underscores the depths to which he and those who he represents will sink to deflect blame.

While people are calling for FBI Director Christopher Wray’s head over the agency’s botched handling of the shooter in the Parkland, Florida tragedy, Mueller hastily puts out, on a Friday no less, an announcement of his big catches in his Russian collusion investigation.

The message from Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s presentation was simple.  The FBI and the Department of Justice care more about our images than we do about protecting your children from senseless violence.

If Mueller had gone public with these indictments on any other day the peals of laughter would have been deafening.  But, as it stands, all that happened was the red-pilling of even more of this country’s center.

So many people are governed by their normalcy bias. They place themselves in another person’s position and believe someone like Mueller is acting the way they would.

This is why it’s so easy for people to dismiss seeing these ‘coincidences’ as a conspiracy theory.

But, the problem with that is that eventually too many theories become facts. And with the cries for more gun control and FBI failure after the shooting in Parkland, Florida, to see a disgraced FBI try and distract people and control the news cycle will be a final straw for too many.

A Coincidence Too Far

There comes a point where the ‘coincidences’ are too numerous, the narcissism too blatant for people to excuse.

Here we are grieving for the dead in Florida, having to be screeched at by clueless, hyper-emotional gun-control advocates and still processing the magnitude of the FBI’s incompetence and Mueller and Rosenstein thought it was the smart play to indict a bunch of nameless Russians to create a distraction?

Do they not realize that in a situation like this people’s anger is real?  Their pain is real?  The disillusionment with our government agencies is real?

It isn’t the product of a Soviet propaganda campaign.  But, most people are willing to go along out of a sense of fairness.  All Mueller had to do after a year and a half of the Democrats haranguing us with Trump’s malfeasance was prove it.

Oops.

And by now admitting that he, in fact, proved the opposite, people’s disillusionment will turn to disgust and anger.  Those on the left not lost in the worst throes of Trump Derangement Syndrome will be angry at being obviously played for fund-raising fools and the center will simply further reject the status quo in D.C.

The Laziness of Power

Mueller, like so many of these power-holders, really do live in an endless hall of mirrors, thinking only of themselves and how these events affect them and their social status. They really think we didn’t know what we were doing when we elected Trump.

To even bring these charges public admits just how little regard they have for us.  That we are so stupid as to believe a few Facebook ads and Twitter sock puppet accounts was the reason why Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton.

In fact, the only person so self-deluded to believe what I just wrote is Hillary Clinton herself.  Everyone else is looking at this and simply laughing their asses off.

I’m ecstatic.  I couldn’t have asked for anything better.  By being so predictable in trying to shape the narrative they undermine our faith in them further. By trying to protect the FBI, they throw more dirt on its coffin.

This is the kind of tone-deaf idiocy that precedes real reform.

Right now, in U.S. politics, the best way to beat your opponents is to simply sit back and let them defeat themselves.

Mueller’s win-at-all-costs approach to his Special Counsel investigation is no different than Hillary’s campaign for President.  They both figured they couldn’t lose if they simply stacked the deck in their favor.

The problem for Mueller was, however, that he had no evidence.  So, his investigation was always going to end the same way, in disgrace.
