“Will Humanity Prosper, or Perish? The Future Demands a ‘Four-Power’ Summit Now”
Under that central mission statement, the Schiller Institute will hold a major international conference on June 27. It will be held over the internet, allowing maximum international participation, and simultaneous interpretation will be provided into Spanish, French, German and possibly other languages. Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche today urged all members and supporters of the Schiller Institute in every nation to build maximum attendance at the event, since the strategic crisis requires the policy solutions that will be presented and debated out in the course of the day-long conference.
In the course of a discussion with associates yesterday about the strategic situation, Zepp-LaRouche emphasized that “It’s very clear that the leading global dynamic is the pandemic, which is absolutely not under control, and which is erupting in various parts of the globe.” There is a tendency to try to deny that reality, Zepp-LaRouche argued, but it isn’t going away. The pandemic has come back to China, with a serious outbreak in Beijing, which has Chinese authorities and the World Health Organization gravely concerned. It seems that the strain of this virus is not the one from Wuhan, but is closer to the virus as it appeared in Europe. The Chinese have reacted extremely rapidly and strictly, by closing down more than 20 districts and carrying out massive testing, tracing and quarantining as needed. Zepp-LaRouche reported that the deputy director of the pathogen virology department at Wuhan University said that this virus is extremely contagious, more contagious than that found in Wuhan.
She further said that the pandemic is also spreading rapidly in underdeveloped nations in the South. Peru is one such case; and in India, “in many big cities triage is going on simply because there are not enough hospitals and not enough beds, so people are turned away at the door, and don’t even get into the hospital.” Also the WHO reports that the situation is massively escalating in many African countries and then you have the ongoing catastrophe in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador.
“This pandemic is fully on the march and in light of that, one has to really raise some questions, whether it’s such a wise idea for Trump to go ahead with the big campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 20,” Zepp-LaRouche commented.
The coronavirus pandemic is compounded by the global financial and economic meltdown that is also underway. “The other looming catastrophe behind this pandemic, is the fact that both the financial system and the real economy are absolutely blowing out,” Zepp-LaRouche stated. She pointed to the massive bailouts underway by the U.S. Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and other central banks, including the Fed announcement yesterday that they will start buying individual corporate bonds directly.
Under these circumstances, what is required is the comprehensive program which the LaRouche movement has proposed, to launch massive high-technology development projects around the world and thereby create some 1.5 billion new, productive jobs globally. This approach would in turn create 50 million such jobs in the United States, and approximately another 50 million in Europe. “And naturally you have to have a world health system in every country and start to remedy the underdevelopment through industrial development and infrastructure for good,” Zepp- LaRouche concluded.
This must be urgently put on the agenda in every nation and world-wide, through a Four Power summit as originally proposed by Lyndon LaRouche. That will be the agenda of the June 27 Schiller Institute conference.
