Barack Obama sought as his legacy to bring an end to the two longest wars in U.S. history. On Oct. 15, he, again, admitted failure. The 9,800 U.S. troops in Afghanistan will remain another year. Two weeks ago Anthony Silva, the mayor of Stockton, California was forced to turn over all of his electronics and their associated passwords when re-entering the country from an official visit to China. The Department of Homeland Security agents were unable to produce a warrant or any other court documents to justify their seizure, yet they prohibited him from entering the country and being on his way until he complied with their demands. Forgiving skyrocketing student debt won’t solve the real problem, which is the soaring costs imposed by a cartel that is failing to prepare students for the economy of tomorrow. Everyone understands soaring student debt is a problem: burdened with $1.3 trillion in student loans, young people are unable to start businesses, buy homes and start families. Much of the political thinking about violence in the United States comes from unfavorable comparisons between the United States and a series of cherry-picked countries with lower murder rates and with fewer guns per capita. Photosynthesis is the transformation of carbon dioxide and water into useful carbohydrates and oxygen. Two years ago one employee said he couldn’t come in because his false teeth flew out the window while he was driving down the highway. Last year a worker said he felt he had to stay at a casino when he had money left after a gambling weekend. Another employee woke up in a good mood and didn’t want to ruin it.
