As the newly elected Syriza Government make overtures to the so-called Troika of the ECB, EC and IMF on debt restructuring, one thing is increasingly clear. Elites in the UK and across Europe appear deeply uncomfortable the neoliberal logic of

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov delivered a sober but tough address at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) Saturday, recalling that there has been no constructive response to Putin’s proposals for a strategic partnership, made at the MSC eight years ago, there has been no interest in common security at all, instead there has been an American obsession with global dominance. Serious damage has been done to all levels of arms control; there has always been resistance against any mutual agreements like the CFE (Conventional Forces in Europe) and INF (Intermediate Nuclear Forces), with all the blame put on Russia. The present strategic crisis has been built up over the past 25 years of domination attempts by the West, and all so-called offers by the West have always included the assumption that Russia accepts the rules of the game set by the West—this even occurred to Merkel, when she once proposed an EU-Russia partnership agreement, which was sabotaged by the rest of the EU and the U.S., another missed opportunity to improve relations, Lavrov charged. The relationship between the US and Russia has failed the stress test, Lavrov added.

The Western-supported coup d’état in Kiev has but been the latest provocation, in a long series of Western military interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Mali—although at least some arrangements have been found in those cases, in contrast to the Ukraine crisis. Look at who is gaining prominence in Ukraine: the Azov Regiment under Andriy Biletsky, people like Sergey Yarosh and Oleh Tyahnybok, all followers of Stepan Bandera whose birthday is publicly celebrated in Ukraine. If this goes on, and the world is at a turning point, we will lose control of all governance on the globe, Lavrov warned. Instead, agreements directly between Eurasian Union and EU should be worked on. We need to agree on certain strategic principles—there is the occasion of 40 years of the OSCE (originally the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe) and 25 years of the Paris Charter, which should be used, Lavrov urged.

In response to a question from the audience, concerning Russia’s alleged grab of Crimea, Lavrov answered that if the Western forces continue to operate like they have done, promoting the terrorists of the Maidan and the Bandera tradition, they should not be surprised at Russian counter-reactions.

The Obama Administration’s hints that it may move to send weapons to the Nazi regime in Kiev is causing a strong reaction in Europe against it. In the last 24 hours this was best expressed by French President François Hollande who told France 2 television, after he returned to Paris from Moscow that the plan under discussion includes a 50-70 km demilitarized zone between the two sides. He called for “rather strong” autonomy in the east.

“These people have gone to war,” Hollande said.

“It will be difficult to make them share a common life,”

he said. He also said that the current negotiations are the last chance.

“Because if we are not able to reach, not a compromise but a durable peace accord, we perfectly know the scenario: It has one name, it is called war.”

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the annual Munich Security Conference, repeated her formulation of the day before, that sending arms to Ukraine would be adding fuel to the fire.

“I am convinced that concentrating on weapons delivery alone can only accelerate the fire and put us even further from a solution,” she said.

Former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-NE), in an op-ed published Saturday in the New York Daily News calls, again, for the release of the now very famous, classified 28 pages of the 2002 Joint Congressional Inquiry report into 9/11, which deals with Saudi support …

While Angela Merkel may be attempting to calm down the conflict with Russia, Helga Zepp-LaRouche wrote in an article for Neue Solidarität Feb. 6, when it comes to the new Greek government, the ECB, the Bundesbank, Merkel and Schäuble are acting like the blockheads (Betonköpfe) in the closing days of East Germany, who refused to change. For those people, Helga Zepp-LaRouche wrote,

“neither debt reduction nor a debt conference, such as that held for Germany in London in 1953, are subjects to be discussed, and the ECB in addition, with its decision to no longer accept any Greek government bonds as collateral, and to force the country instead to turn to expensive emergency liquidity, has gone for confrontation. European principles and treaties must be respected, Schäuble insists, even if that arrogance and intransigence will likely accelerate the demise of the euro.

“But exactly those principles and treaties are the problem. It was the Troika’s austerity policy which made economic recovery in Greece impossible, which slashed the Greek economy by one-third, and plunged the population into despair. From the beginning, I warned that the austerity policy in the tradition of Heinrich Brüning could not work. As early as February 2008, shortly after the signing of the Lisbon Treaty, I warned that ratification of that Treaty would mean signing a second Versailles Treaty — for all of Europe, that is — and that no one should forget that the first Versailles Treaty contained the seeds of the Second World War.

“[greek] Finance Minister Varoufakis emphasized in an interview with Die Zeit, that much suffering would have been prevented, had the Versailles Treaty been broken at the time, and pointed out that the Nazi party ‘Golden Dawn’ has become the third largest political party in Greece as a reaction to the austerity policy imposed.

“But while the blockheads only turn their tunnel vision to the banking sector’s interests … the image is being consolidated in the rest of Europe and in many parts of the world of the brutal Germans, whose medicine has poisoned the Southern Europeans, and who are now too hard-hearted to give the Greeks the same opportunity that the United States offered to Germany after World War II. Indeed, without the Marshall Plan and the 1953 Debt Conference, which cut in half Germany’s total debt and made payments conditional on the surplus in exports, Germany would never have developed from a rubble field into the country of the ‘economic miracle’ which was admired throughout the entire world.

“As a result of the ECB policy and Schäuble’s hard line, tens of thousands of people in many Greek cities took to the streets to support the Tsipras government. In Madrid on Saturday [Jan. 31], 300,000 people demonstrated. If the EU, the ECB and the German government stick to their refusal to compromise, the euro threatens to break up in chaos. The callousness of the Schäubles can only make the social catastrophe worse, but they apparently do not understand what historical processes are at play. ‘The World as Will and Representation.'” [A reference to Schopenhauer’s well-known work Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung]

From there, Helga Zepp-LaRouche goes on to lay out the perspective of cooperation with the BRICS as the only alternative.

If the sudden mission to Moscow of Chancellor Merkel and President Hollande, and their five-hour meeting with President Putin, has failed this weekend — which is not certain, but the likely outcome — it will have failed on the edge of all-out war; Hollande said as much afterwards.

These European leaders certainly broke with Obama over arming the Kiev regime to fight Russia. But they remain locked in the disastrous British bankers’ concoction of the euro and Eurozone with its world-fascist treaties and rules for economic destruction. And it is this which ultimately drove the war confrontation with Russia and the BRICS.

Ask Russia to accept Hitler’s own Nazis dominant in Kiev and 30,000 NATO troops deploying along Russia’s borders in half a dozen countries? As Lyndon LaRouche insisted Friday, to clarify the real circumstances, “Get rid of Nuland’s Nazis! Otherwise you have no chance to avoid war.”

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, in a strategic assessment Feb. 6, strongly criticized Merkel: While trying to cool out the London/Obama war policy, she and her Finance Minister Schäuble demand rigid observance by Greece of the “principles and treaties” of the euro and ECB which are the ruinous problem for all of the European Union and will likely break it up. Helga reminds European readers that she warned in February 2008 the Lisbon Treaty would be a second Versailles Treaty, and like the first, contain the seeds of war and fascism.

The euro was the London financial imperialists’ prison for Europe — Margaret Thatcher’s and George H.W. Bush’s “British West Europe Company” — and it is London which is now out to make war on the BRICS for daring to grow economically and productively. Their puppet Obama clearly has alienated and frightened the European “allies” at this dangerous moment, but they are remaining slaves of London’s economic prison.

The new Greek government, however, will not agree to continue the self-destruction of their nation, and they have the expressed backing now of the great majority of Greeks and of expanding anti-austerity movements in other countries. Prime Minister Tsipras will formally announce his policy to Parliament today. Although EC blackmail threats are flying, Greece continues to go for debt renegotiation and investment in the real economy of Greece.

We have the workable solution, as LaRouche says, to kill the dead debt and derivatives bubble, crush Wall Street’s and London’s power while substituting new institutions of productive credit and linking up with those of the BRICS-allied countries.

And we have the uniquely powerful weapon against terrorism and war which we have created, the “28 pages” fight over the Saudi and British “Londonistan” responsibility for terrorism. The fight to declassify these documents is now reported, debated everywhere in the world, all the time. LaRouche stressed on Friday that that is not enough: Obama must be bludgeoned with it to force the actual release of the classified documents. He is covering the British and Saudi crimes of terror and war, and abetting them. He has to be defeated on that, and forced out.

Real Obama unemployment rate is still above 10%.

Tonight’s commentary regarding the Greek ultimatum is the most important development in quite some time.  If I was a betting man, I strongly believe that China and Russia have had extensive talks and they are willing to finance the Greeks.
