Mac Slavo | “Are the OPCW inspectors aware that smart missiles are about to destroy all evidence of the chemical weapons use on the ground?”

Engineers are becoming like magicians – pulling improbable things out of their hats. The difference is, it’s not a trick – and they haven’t got much choice. Every car company has armies of engineers trying to figure out how to maintain the performance and power the market expects of new cars while also complying with the government’s demands – which are becoming harder and harder to comply with. Some of these demands aren’t even official  . . . yet. For example, this idea that carbon dioxide (C02) is – hey, presto! – an “emission.” Of course, it is – in the literal sense … Continue reading

Starvation might be stalking among college students, according to shocking headlines in Newsweek and elsewhere, and The Washington Post warns of “The hidden crisis on college campuses.” In reality, last week’s report from Temple University and Wisconsin HOPE Lab is typical of the baloney that spawns policy hysteria nowadays. Temple University/HOPE researchers assert that 36% of four-year college students and 42% of community college students are “food insecure” — a vaporous term beloved by pro-welfare advocates. This analysis is modeled on the Department of Agriculture’s annual Food Security survey. USDA is emphatic that its survey does not measure hunger, but that neonsize warning sign was ignored by this study (titled “Still Hungry and Homeless in College”). … Continue reading

By Dr. Mercola Your body has two adrenal glands located just above each of your kidneys. As part of your endocrine system, your adrenal glands secrete more than 50 hormones, including aldosterone (which helps regulate your blood pressure and blood volume), cortisol and adrenaline, the latter two of which can become overactivated by stress. Indeed, your hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is the system responsible for the management of stress. This includes stress from every conceivable source, be it injury or disease, work or relationship problems, lack of sleep or poor diet. Exposure to chronic stress from overwork, chronic inflammation or long-term … Continue reading

Last days of Pompey?  I was just there last week and I saw the future, not the past. To anyone watching the UN Security Council “debate” last night it is crystal clear we are in the last days before all hell breaks out. So, here we are at Judgment Day, and there surely will not be one soul out on Pennsylvania Avenue to raise an anti-war placard. The tattered remains of the American peace movement is rotten to the core. — Gilbert Doctorow Gilbert Doctorow, a knowledgeable and cautious observer of Russia, who, unlike the US National Security Council, Western … Continue reading

Our most recent article about the most recent minor eruptions at Yellowstone briefly touched on the mitigation process this type of disaster entails and the evacuation efforts that would need to be made for millions before a supervolcano were to erupt. This brings to mind an even greater question of how the world governments would be able to feed and care for citizens without the help of the sun. Following a massive volcanic eruption, and especially in the case of a supervolcano erupting, the eruption would blast 240 cubic miles of rock, dust and volcanic ash into the sky. This would spread throughout … Continue reading

It looks like the subprime auto loan bubble has popped. Last year, we reported that the auto industry’s check engine light was on. Now it looks like the thing is totally breaking down. Small subprime auto lenders are starting to go belly-up due to increasing losses and defaults. As ZeroHedgenoted, “we all know what comes next: the larger companies go bust, inciting real capitulation.” Bloomberg recently reported that not only are subprime auto lenders facing tough business conditions, there are also allegations of fraud and under-reporting of losses. Growing numbers of small subprime auto lenders are closing or shutting down after loan losses and slim … Continue reading

A series of earthquakes shook the US yesterday with several hitting worryingly close to the Ring of Fire, sparking fears a massive tremor could be on the way. The most powerful of this latest cluster – which also shook Alaska and California – came in Perry, Oklahoma, where a 4.3 magnitude tremor struck. This follows on from a flurry of earthquakes in California at the weekend, with experts warning residents to ‘get those earthquake preparedness kits ready’. Both California and Alaska are on the much-feared Ring of Fire – the most active fault-line in the world. The most powerful of this latest … Continue reading

The election of 2016 was supposed to be the most disruptive break with the status quo in modern history, if ever. On the single most important decision of his tenure, however, the Donald has lined-up check-by-jowl with Barry and Dubya, too. That is to say, Trump’s new Fed chairman, Jerome Powell, amounts to Janet Yellen in trousers and tie. In fact, you can make it a three-part composite by adding Bernanke with a full head of hair and Greenspan sans the mumble. The overarching point here is that the great problems plaguing American society – scarcity of good jobs, punk … Continue reading

While Parkland has kicked the gun control debate up into high gear, it wasn’t the gun’s fault. We all know this. We also know that there were countless failures along the way that permitted a 19-year-old with a history of being troubled to purchase a firearm and shoot up his former school. As Glenn Reynolds (better known to some as Instapundit) notes, if we want to be serious about stopping mass shootings, law enforcement failures need to start being punished [shooters’ names redacted]. Law enforcement keeps failing, and people keep dying.  Where are the consequences? Where is the accountability? Despite receiving a … Continue reading

Nigel Farage has turned his back on US President Donald Trump, as the former UKIP chief cautioned Britain against intervening alongside the US in Syria. In an unprecedented break with the Republican leader, Farage said he would not want the UK to join forces with the US against Syrian President Bashar Assad. Farage’s statement follows a volley of tweets from Trump warning Russia he intended to launch “nice and new and ‘smart’” missiles against Syria. While Prime Minister Theresa May has joined French President Emmanuel Macron and Trump in saying those responsible for an alleged chemical attack in Douma, Syria, should be … Continue reading

In the midst of worrying about North Korea, Syria and Democrats taking control of the House of Representatives this fall, President Donald Trump is now worrying about a government assault on his own business, which targeted his own lawyer. Michael Cohen has been the personal lawyer for Trump and for the Trump Organization — the umbrella corporation through which Trump owns or manages nearly all entities that bear his name — for many years. Cohen is so closely connected to the Trump Organization that one of his two law offices is located on the 26th floor of Trump Tower, just … Continue reading

In Vietnam, the wind doesn’t blow… it sucks. — Tag Line for Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket” When I wrote a few weeks ago that I thought the Neocons were making the full-court press for war I thought President Trump was a reluctant player in the game. Part of me still believes that. Part of me also believes that Trump, like everyone else, is a slave to his passions and is easily manipulated into terrible decisions.  Case in point was last year’s bombing of the Al Shairat airbase in Syria after a similar false flag chemical weapons attack at Khan Sheikoun. Will … Continue reading
