Many consider a nuclear attack an outlandish scenario to which only conspiracy theorists subscribe. Unfortunately, the threat of a nuclear incident, accidental or purposeful, exists, perhaps more than in recent years, due to recent developments in the Korean peninsula. Atomic weapons can decimate a population from thermal blasts, but it also causes illness and death due to exposure from radiation. Although populated areas have experienced detonations only twice, (Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945), nuclear reactor meltdowns and other events have occurred from time to time since then, such as in Fukushima in 2011 and Chernobyl in 1986. In an atomic … Continue reading

From Jordan Peterson’s Biblical Series VI: The Psychology of the Flood, at about 35 minutes; he is addressing the common complaints aimed at patriarchy (cited as accurately as I could after a few passes): The patriarchal aspect of existence can become tyrannical, it does that quite regularly. Every solution carries within it certain problems; no solution is perfect.  ….That’s why I am so irritated with the post-modernists, yammering about the patriarchy, and it’s very, very annoying.  It’s self-evident that social systems are tyrannical; that’s not news, folks!  That’s obvious. But that’s not all they are.  It’s the reduction of the entire complex solution to a unidimensional problem.  “It’s … Continue reading

In 1937, Orwell was shot in the neck during the Spanish Civil War. Known mostly as a political allegorist, Orwell was also a master at describing all that is seen, heard and felt, so in Homage to Catalonia, you can read about his near death experience, “Roughly speaking it was the sensation of being at the center of an explosion. There seemed to be a loud bang and a blinding flash of light all around me, and I felt a tremendous shock—no pain, only a violent shock, such as you get from an electric terminal; with it a sense of … Continue reading

I created the Ron Paul Curriculum. It is up and running, K-12. It has enrolled a lot of families. What I am saying is not hypothetical. Somewhere in the United States, there is a Roman Catholic bishop who is a conservative. He probably doesn’t say it publicly, but he would prefer that the Latin mass were still in use. That world is gone. He sees around him parishioners who share his beliefs. There may not be a lot of them, but in a church with 77 million members in the United States, there are several million of them. The fact of … Continue reading

It’s another day, and we get a new story about how dire the climate threat is and that it is unambiguous that humans are a significant cause. What is rarely noted in these articles is actual facts that support the theory.  I would love to see actual temperature data for each decade for the last 150 years, including where the measuring stations are located.  It would be especially interesting to see rural data where cement and asphalt don’t inflate the temperature.  It should also always be noted that a “Little Ice Age” ended in 1715 and that some warming would be normal. … Continue reading

While senior U.S. officials led by President Trump and media pundits sound the alarm over North Korea’s nuclear ambitions, America has been dealing with a series of nuclear leaks domestically that are already exposing the public to radioactive material. The most recent case is in Washington State, where a radioactive leak at the Hanford Site nuclear facility that began on June 8 was kept secret for two months while contaminating the surrounding area. Plutonium particles detected as far as three miles away from the decommissioned nuclear Hanford Site in Washington state left workers with headaches and coughs, but officials insist that the nearby public highway is not at … Continue reading

Earlier this summer, my kids developed poison ivy. Upon investigation, we found a healthy patch of the stuff in the back corner of the yard, right next to the swing-set. As my husband is highly allergic to poison ivy, it was my job to pull up and discard the patch before the kids got into it again. Precautions were taken by wearing long pants and gloves. Afterwards, my clothing was immediately removed and washed. During my shower, I scrubbed down with Dawn dish soap, but it didn’t matter. Within a week I had poison ivy rash up and down both … Continue reading
