This month we’ve seen a strange confluence of developments, anniversaries, and events bringing the subject of “women and war” to the editorial pages of national newspapers and to the fore of the public consciousness. Last week, the US Senate Armed Services Committee included a Selective Service registration requirement for women in its version of the NDAA, making it likely that after a century of pursing freedom and equality—oftentimes in terms of a right to ownership over one’s own body—women might finally have an equal shot at indentured servitude. At Scripps College in Claremont, California, some students and faculty protested the … Continue reading

By Dr. Mercola The air you’re breathing inside your home can be five times more polluted than the air outside. A combination of carpet, chemicals, air fresheners, plastics and furnishings contribute to the chemical soup you breathe indoors. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, you spend at least 10 hours each day inside your home and another eight hours at your work environment.1 That’s at least 75 percent of your day spent indoors and often longer for many people. Poor air quality has been linked to a number of different illnesses and diseases. The air you breathe inside is as … Continue reading

During a lengthy interview on CNBC the week before last, Donald Trump, fresh from becoming the presumptive Republican nominee, came as close as any major presidential contender ever has to saying that America is not capable of repaying her debts in full, and that our path to economic recovery might involve some pain for our creditors. This moment of candor earned Trump almost as much condemnation as his earlier suggestions to ban Muslims from entering the United States. To many, the idea that U.S. debt obligations involved even the slightest risks to investors was both the height of financial naiveté and the epitome of … Continue reading

The ancients recorded their knowledge on scrolls, artifacts, and even cave walls. In some cases, the passage of time has erases our ability to understand a disused alphabet. In other cases, knowledge is purposely encrypted in complex codes understood by only a select (and long dead) few. There are many such ancient writings, pictographs, and ciphers that still defy understanding. Whenever one is cracked, it almost always yields exciting new information. Here are 10 decoded books, paintings, scrolls, and artifacts that allow us an unprecedented glimpse into the secret societies, lost libraries, beliefs, and rituals of Antiquity. 10 Egyptian Book … Continue reading

The headline reads, “The Rapid Rise of a Research Nation:  China’s economic boom is mirrored by its similarly meteoric rise in high quality science.”  This was not a headline in People’s Daily or China Daily but in the most prestigious of Western scientific publications, Nature. The 38 pages, which follow that headline in a special Supplement to the journal Nature, tell us that China is now second in the world in high quality science publications and growing fast.  This certainly contradicts the Western, dare I say racist, stereotype of the hardworking, but unimaginative, Asian drudge, dutifully churning out mounds of … Continue reading

A new book threatens to blow the lid off of Congress as a legislator has penned a tell-all about the worst parts of serving in the House of Representatives – saying that his main job is to raise money for re-election and that leaves little time for reading the bills he votes on. Mill City Press, a small Minnesota-based ‘vanity press’ publisher describes ‘The Confessions of Congressman X‘ as  ‘a devastating inside look at the dark side of Congress as revealed by one of its own.’ ‘No wonder Congressman X wants to remain anonymous for fear of retribution. His admissions are … Continue reading

A view of North America on April 29, 2016, from NASA’s DSCOVR:EPIC satellite. Image credit: NASA Oh, how the mighty have fallen. The intense El Niño we saw this winter captured the imaginations of headline writers around the world for more than a year, earning the outlandish moniker “Godzilla El Niño” to convey to an entertainment-thirsty public just how unusually strong the phenomenon had gotten. The event will soon be a memory as it’s quickly fading away, likely to be replaced by the opposite anomaly—a La Niña—in the coming months. The U.S. Climate Prediction Center released its monthly report on … Continue reading

Mario Puzo, who passed away in 1999, wrote a number of bestselling novels, including The Godfather, Fools Die, and The Last Don. What I especially liked about Puzo was his legendary tongue-in-cheek interviews. One of my favorite Puzo comments was when he warned aspiring scriptwriters that the only way to get a fair deal in Hollywood was to go into the studio with a mask and gun. I’ve always been amazed by how many of Puzo’s rules apply not only to writing but to life in general. In that vein, the following are five of my most favorite Puzo rules … Continue reading

New York—It was the best of times—downtown—and the worst of times—uptown. Let’s start with the horror near the park: Cranial atrophy, unrelenting grossness, overarched and overgrown eyebrows, posterior-baring bondage outfits, and de haut en bas attitudes were the order of the night. Never has a museum site been more desecrated by a freak show, and the Met—maybe the best museum in the whole wide world—should be ashamed of itself. A great institution such as the Met always needs funds but allowing a freak show of publicity-starved clowns is not the answer. Let’s take it from the top. The Met Gala … Continue reading

Whether it’s the thought of giving a presentation at an important office meeting or getting frustrated sat in a queue of traffic, stress has become an unwelcome part of every day life. As the heart races, nerves tremble and palms of the hands become increasingly sweaty, increasing anxieties can result in a full-blown panic attack. But a simple breathing technique could help calm the nerves in seconds – by ‘fooling’ the body into thinking it is relaxed. A YouTube video called ‘Mind Hack: Combat Anxiety with This Breathing Technique,’ explains how people can calm themselves down simply with a few inhales … Continue reading

Think back to how on Sept. 11, 2011, we watched, as the perpetrators grabbed loaded planes from Boston, Newark and Washington, D.C. and took themselves, passengers and ground victims to fiery deaths—3,000 people. Lyndon LaRouche evoked this horror dramatically today on the weekly LaRouchePAC Policy Committee program, making the point: `people have memories, but they didn’t grasp the content of the operation.’ The Saudis did this under British direction. Why was this never corrected? Are we now going to look, or not?

This question hangs over the United States. Obama is a murderer for covering up for the perpetrators of 9/11, as well as for his own killer deeds. The pressure is building on this. National Public Radio this morning, ran a drive-time segment on how “Debate Rages” to release the classified 28 pages of the 9/11 Congressional Inquiry report, which Obama refuses to do. NPR ran the voices of former Florida Sen. Bob Graham, Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA), and others, demanding action. Tomorrow, CIA Director James Clapper meets with Graham, and Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.,) in a Team Obama stalling tactic session, for the purpose of continued protection of the British/London enemy.

Pressure alone won’t accomplish the task of stopping the treason, and punishing the guilty, however. Guts and morality will. Obama is very vulnerable. Internationally, he is taking real blows on all sides. Look, for example, behind the facade of his Asia Pivot. Next week, Obama goes to Asia. On Monday, he arrives in Hanoi, where he meets Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, to lecture him on the necessity of Vietnam being in the TPP, opposing China, going green, observing human rights, etc. Prime Minister Phuc, however, will have just returned from spending a week in Russia. Today, in Moscow, Phuc met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev; Russia and Vietnam signed a raft of commitments for nuclear power, trade, agriculture and industry. Over the comings days, Phuc will meet with President Putin, Duma leaders, and attend the Russia-ASEAN Summit.

The danger of allowing Obama to remain in office for one more day is seen in the latest events in the Mediterranean. Today at multi-nation talks in Vienna, an official approval was concocted to send outside forces into Libya, in the name of propping up the “national accord” government of Premier Fayez al-Serraj, and fighting ISIS. The Obama Administration intends to send in arms; and Italy is supposed to train and equip Libyan forces. This is the short road to a North Africa replay of the each-against-all Hobbesian chaos and carnage imposed on Iraq and Syria.

Facing reality means acting to break completely with this war insanity, and making way for the Mediterranean Marshall Plan/New Silk Road development policy for all humanity.
