Nearly 400 miners trapped in east Ukraine: Pro-Russians
‘Nearly 400 Ukrainian miners have been trapped in a coal pit after a shell damaged a regional electric substation in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, pro-Russia fighters say.
Some 390 miners remained trapped in a shaft at the expansive Zasyadko coal mine in the volatile eastern city of Donetsk after it lost power due to shelling, the pro-Russia Donetsk News Agency said on Sunday.
“There are problems with the air ventilation but their lives are not in danger,” a Donetsk district official said, adding, however, that “the elevators are not working so they are unable to get out.”’
