Badger cull extended across country if we win election, Tories say

‘Badger culling would be extended across the country under a Conservative government, the environment secretary said today, after trials showed the measure significantly reduced tuberculosis among cows.

Liz Truss said the Tories would do “whatever it takes” to tackle the disease, which forces farmers to slaughter 28,000 cattle every year.

She said there was scientific evidence to show that killing badgers, which can carry bovine tuberculosis (TB), would help eradicate the disease.’
