Bishops vow to take on ‘sex appeal’ of Russell Brand’s ‘don’t vote’ message
‘The Church of England has decided to engage in politics because someone has to counter the “sex appeal of Russell Brand”, a bishop has insisted.
The Rt Rev Graham James, the Bishop of Norwich, said that he had been shocked from speaking to young people at the “profound effect” the comedian and self-styled revolutionary’s remarks encouraging them not to vote had had.
His comments came as the Church issued a highly political, pre-election pastoral letter to the faithful insisting that Christians have a “duty” to vote and urging them to engage in the political process.’
