The Greek standoff with the EU shines a bright light on the mortal weakness of today’s global economy. Simply put, countries that cannot pay back their excessive debts — won’t.

To date, the system has acted as if those debts will, by one means or another, be repaid. But the reality is: losses will be taken. And the key question is: by whom? And of course, once those losses begin to cascade through our overly-indebted, hyper-interdependent financial system, a Great Unraveling of the world’s wealth will begin.
