Elon Musk: Human-Driven Cars Will be Banned in the Future

‘Appearing at Nvidia’s annual developers conference, the South-African–born inventor said that when self-driving vehicles become the norm, regular cars will be made illegal.

“In the distant future people may outlaw driving cars because it’s too dangerous,” Musk said. “You can’t have a person driving a two-ton death machine.”

Musk agreed that human-driven cars will eventually become as outdated as elevator operators but that the shift to autonomous vehicles would take a long time to come to fruition.’
