Russian Parliamentary Leader: BRICS Geography Shows Russia Cannot Be Isolated
Sergey Naryshkin, Speaker of the Duma, the lower chamber of Russia’s parliament, spoke out March 4th, against the delusion held by the United States and certain allies, that Russia, a BRICS member, can be isolated internationally. Naryshkin, speaking to Rossiya24, said,
Naryshkin added that the Seventh BRICS Summit will be held in Russia this Summer. He also pointed out that the BRICS nations together account for 42% of the world’s population, and 27% of the world’s economy.
Naryshkin’s remarks were reported today by the BRICS Post, which added the specific strategic point that “China has said western nations must shed their zero-sum mentality and accomodate Russian security concerns over the Ukraine crisis.” The BRICS Post quoted the statement made last week by the Chinese envoy to Belgium Qu Xing, “The West should abadnon the zero-sum mentality, and take the real security concerns of Russia into consideration.”
