Soldiers patrolling Broad Street, Birmingham with police officers to keep clubbers safe

‘The Royal Military Police are patrolling with beat bobbies in the nightlife hotspots of Broad Street and Hurst Street – to protect clubbers and tackle thugs.

Such joint patrols are common in Garrison Towns like Aldershot and Bulford, but with soldiers regularly heading to Birmingham for nights out, the Red Caps were keen to gain experience of policing a thriving city centre.

Police Sergeant Dave Francis, of West Midlands Police, said their army counterparts been welcomed to Birmingham by bar managers, door staff and partygoers.’
