Former Plymouth University vice-chancellor ‘still being paid £250,000′
‘The former vice-chancellor of Plymouth University remains on a £250,000 salary, despite moving to a new job and no longer running the institution, according to reports.
Stunned staff have reacted furiously to the revelation, saying the situation has gone “beyond a joke” and insisting the board of governors must do more to explain their decisions.
Professor Wendy Purcell left her role as vice-chancellor in January, two months after she returned to work following a high-profile boardroom dispute. She stayed on as president, advising the chair of governors and working to enhance the university’s reputation, with Professor David Coslett taking over as interim VC.
But now a Freedom of Information request has revealed she remains on the £250,000 salary she received as vice-chancellor, the Times Higher Education reports.’
