House Passes Death Tax Repeal
For the first time in a decade, legislation to repeal the death tax is moving in Congress!
Earlier today, the House voted passed H.R. 1105, the Death Tax Repeal Act, by a vote of 240-179!
For the past five years, Campaign for Liberty has participated in an effort with the Family Business Coalition – an assortment of advocacy and business groups – to push for full repeal of the death tax.
Like our Chairman, Ron Paul, C4L does not believe that death should be a taxable event. While proponents of the tax often frame the debate as one of greedy heirs and heiresses inheriting fortunes from previous generations, the reality of those affected by the death tax couldn’t be further from that. The death tax disproportionately affects small businesses and family farmers – ordinary folks driving around in a rusted out 1980’s pickup, who don’t realize their farms are valued high enough to reach the threshold for the tax.
