Shopped to social services because I’m not a perfect mum: Shona Sibary on the malicious phone call that could have seen her little girl taken into care
‘Looking back, it’s ironic to think that the phone call came just as I was putting the finishing touches to my five-year-old daughter Dolly’s holiday packing.
We were off to Disneyland Paris for Easter and, as promised, I had washed and ironed her much-adored Frozen dress and was about to place it carefully in the suitcase. At that moment, my mobile rang. ‘Hello, this is a social worker from the MASH team, in Exeter. Is that Shona Sibary?’
MASH, for those of you who, like me, have passed through life blithely unaware of its existence, stands for the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub.’
