Cameron prepares to send more troops to Iraq and Syria
‘David Cameron is preparing to send more British forces to the Middle East to train local troops for the war against the jihadists of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
Military chiefs and security advisers are drawing up plans to deploy troops into more dangerous parts of Iraq to teach Iraqi forces how to deal with roadside devices and car bombs.
Commanders are also expecting to increase in the numbers of British specialists sent to train Syrian opposition groups – who are fighting Isil as well as President Assad – in infantry tactics, weapons handling and medical techniques.
This combat training, which is led by America, will take place in countries neighbouring Syria, such as Turkey.’
