I told you voting was a waste of time: Russell Brand unrepentant as Labour celebrity luvvies lament humiliating night
‘After abandoning his long-held belief that voting is a ‘waste of time’ last week, comedian Russell Brand became one of Labour’s most outspoken supporters.
Joining a gaggle of left-leaning celebrities, he urged fans to back Ed Miliband in an enthusiastic U-turn citing Conservative ‘meanness’ as an evil threatening the country.
But less than 24 hours after the Labour leader conceded a humiliating defeat in an emotionally-charged speech, the comedian reversed his position to one of cynicism.
For after telling followers on Thursday that they can ‘change whatever we want,’ Brand today confessed to having been ‘caught up’ in the excitement of the campaign, adding he now believed (again) that ‘you cannot change the outcome of an election’.’
