Twitter ‘endangering national security’ says top cop
‘Twitter is endangering national security by tipping-off customers who may be under surveillance by the security services, one of Britain’s most senior policing figures has said, as it emerged the technology company blocks two-thirds of Government requests for information.
Sir Hugh Orde, former president of the Association of Chief Police Officers and Northern Ireland chief constable, said the behaviour of the company and other technology firms “needs to be addressed”.
David Cameron, the Prime Minister, also stepped into the row, warning social media companies they have an “onus” to help keep British people safe from terrorist attacks by handing over data which may prove essential in combating terror.’
