UK Government ‘will axe tax credits and housing benefit’ for under 22s

‘Thousands of young British people may lose the right to claim tax credits and housing benefits for four years.

By restricting benefits for British workers under the age of 22 it could allow the Government to introduce a similar restriction for migrant workers without the need for a European Union treaty change.

The Government has refused to speculate on the plans, which were revealed by the BBC.

Labour has warned most people would find it unacceptable if young British workers are prevented from receiving tax credits and housing benefits.’
