Westminster sex abuse probe police head north to question four witnesses in Scotland
‘Detectives probing a Westminster paedophile ring made a secret visit to Scotland to question four witnesses, we can reveal.
Plain-clothes officers from Scotland Yard travelled to the Highlands to speak to them as they probe historic allegations of child abuse involving some of Britain’s most senior politicians.
They interviewed four people, including the widow of the late former Lib Dem deputy leader Russell Johnston.
Lady Joan Johnston, who was estranged from the respected peer for 10 years before his death, aged 75, in 2008, told the Sunday Mail that she spoke to the police two months ago.
But, she said, the detectives told her that there are no allegations of wrong-doing against her husband, who changed his surname to Russell-Johnston in 1997.’
