‘Queen Elizabeth is fascinated by the Loch Ness Monster and even entertained the idea it could be named after her, papers have revealed.
The young Queen encouraged an investigation into the mysterious beast, which lives around 70 miles from her Scottish Balmoral estate, by Sir Peter Scott.
Documents show Sir Peter, the son of Antarctic explorer Captain Scott, wrote to the Queen’s assistant private secretary Martin Charteris revealing his proposals to track down Nessie in May 1960.’
