‘Shoppers will be able to spend up to £30 using contactless cards from today – enough to pay for the average supermarket shop.
The maximum limit for ‘tap and pay’ cards will rise from £20 to £30, enabling people to use the time-saving technology for bigger purchases.
Figures show the amount spent on contactless cards has doubled in the last six months. The technology allows shoppers to touch their card against an electronic reader in-store, rather than entering their pin or signing for the purchase.’
