Sir Christopher Bland, former chairman of the BBC between 1996 and 2001 has expressed his fears that the corporation is becoming an arm of the UK government.

He stated that Osborne’s plan to offload spending priorities onto the broadcaster will make it a mouthpiece for the Tory government.
