Tory Ministers Prepare for Climbdown on Controversial ‘Court Charges’
Tory ministers are ready to climb down on the controversial system of court charges that was only introduced 6 months ago after a wave of protests and resignations from magistrates and other parts of the judiciary.
The charges imposed a flat £150 fee for court appearances but as they were not means tested they could rise to £1200 if the defendant pleads not guilty but was then subsequently convicted.
