Thousands Of Older People Stripped Of Vital ‘Meals On Wheels’ Service

‘More than 46,000 older people have been stripped of ‘Meals on Wheels’ services in the last three years alone, according to a damning new study.

Shocking new findings released by the ‘Malnutrition Task Force’ – an independent group of experts across health, social care and local government – show that Meals on Wheels services for people over the age of 65 have fallen 47%, from £42.1m in 2010/11 to just £22.3m in 2013/14.

Members of the task force include local government, commissioners, professional associations, GPs, dieticians, NHS service providers and community meal providers.’
