Return of the Gullwing Time Machine
The iconic DeLorean is going back to the future. And yes, it is as every bit as exciting as it sounds.
Yes, brand new — not refurbished — DeLoreans could hit the road as early as next year. The big news comes after the automaker announced it will soon start building the sleek, silver sports cars again for the first time in three decades. This good news comes after a change in federal law that allows for low-volume manufacturing.
The new cars will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Humble, Texas, near Houston. Wynne hopes to roll out four cars a month.
The replica models are set to go on sale early in 2017. That means that you can get your hands on a brand new DeLorean, yep – just like the one driven by Doc Brown, next year. You will have to take care of supplying the flux capacitor though.
The new replica models should sell for $100,000 with exact pricing depending on the engine choice. Refurbished models sell for around $45,000 to $55,000.
