Opposing BDS Means Supporting Oppression

‘In a new wave of pro-Israeli panic, the US, Canada, the UK and other Western countries are in a flurry to outlaw BDS. Laws are being written in the heartland of Western democracy to make the call to boycott, divest and impose sanctions on Israel, illegal. In the US this goes contrary to the First Amendment and in the other Western democracies this goes against the very essence of people’s right to freedom of expression and the freedom to act when they see injustice. Whatever happens next, one thing is sure: this legislation will help the Palestinian cause. It will ultimately add supporters who otherwise may not have been interested in the Palestinian issue. People who care for freedom of speech and for the right to express one’s desire to punish the perpetrators of injustice, even if they happen to be Jewish.’
