‘A former Australian army chief is warning Canberra against “blindly” following the United States after the Chilcot report.
Peter Leahy says Australia has to examine how it decides to go to war in light of the report. Australia sent two-thousand troops to support US and British forces in the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Peter Leahy was Chief of the Australian Army from 2002 to 2008. The official inquiry into Britain’s role in the Iraq war was published on Wednesday. The report detailed the flawed intelligence, questionable legal basis and inadequate preparation for the occupation.’
