‘If Syrian suffering is to end – Assad must go’ says Boris Johnson

New British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson called on Tuesday for Russia and other states to demand Syrian President Bashar al-Assad step down as he prepared for his first meeting with John Kerry.
This is stark contrast to his statement made last December when he said ‘the west could not afford to be picky in its choice of allies since Isis in Syria could not be defeated without terrestrial forces.’
