‘An Internet-connected sex toy sending information about how customers use it back to the manufacturer in real time sounds like the most intimate invasion of privacy imaginable.
So no surprise that U.S. law firm Edelson PC made international headlines after announcing its intention to serve the Ottawa-based maker of the We-Vibe Rave with a proposed class-action lawsuit for allegedly collecting a little too much information.
The firm alleges an anonymous Illinois woman would not have purchased the vibrator, or used a feature that allows it to be controlled remotely with a smartphone, had she known the company was taking real-time digital notes on how she responded to “pulse” mode compared to “cha cha.”’
