Homeless population at NYC shelters exceeds 60,000

‘The number of homeless people staying at New York City’s shelters has, for the first time ever, gone beyond 60,000, according to new official data.
The New York City’s shelter population reached 60,017 people on Tuesday night, the New York Post reported Thursday, citing data by the Department of Homeless Services.
Nearly 24,000 homeless children were sleeping in shelters, while the adult population exceeded 36,000.’
