Merck Popularized Cocaine: German Pharma Corporation Worked With Sigmund Freud

‘Did you know that Sigmund Freud played a strong role in popularizing cocaine? He worked with German pharmaceutical company Merck, now one of the world’s largest vaccine producers (the U.S. subsidiary which became its own company).
Merck began importing thousands of kilos of “crude cocaine” to Germany for processing into cocaine hydrochloride, by the first few years of the 20th Century, after a major spike in cocaine profits 1885- 1886.’
