The entire time, Alex and ex-wife Kelly Jones passed each other countless times in the hallway and courtroom. The two rarely, if ever, acknowledged each other’s presence in the middle of this extremely public yet intimate custody battle. Jones sat with his legal team with a smattering of Kelly’s friends and family positioned behind hers.
The case – which ultimately played out as a routine family law affair – garnered national media attention after Alex Jones’ lawyers defended their client’s conspiracy weaving as “playing a character.” The assertion cast doubt on whether Jones truly believed in the fantastical allegations on display on Infowars. Was it all fake news?
Kelly Jones’ attorney Robert Hoffman posed a similar question during his closing argument: “What do we really know about Mr. Jones?”
He then answered it. “Mr. Jones is a master manipulator,” Hoffman told the jury, gesticulating wildly. “Nobody can stop this man, except the twelve of you.”‘
