Facebook Cracks Down on Fake News Epidemic… But Admits Problem Non-Existent

‘Facebook has published a report detailing its plans to tackle “information operations” by both government and non-state actors that seek to use the social media platform “to distort domestic or foreign political sentiment, most frequently to achieve a strategic and/or geopolitical outcome.”
Authored by the network’s Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos and colleagues, Information Operations and Facebook describes an expansion of the company’s security focus from traditional abusive behavior, such as hacking, malware, spam and financial scams, to more “subtle and insidious forms of misuse,” including “attempts to manipulate civic discourse and deceive.”‘
