UK wind farms could be paid to switch OFF their turbines this summer as National Grid warns of a huge excess of energy

‘With more homes and businesses generating their own electricity, and a boom in local solar farms, the National Grid has been left with a huge excess of energy.
The energy firm has predicted in a new report that the minimum demand on the UK’s high-voltage power grid will dramatically fall this summer.
This could lead to wind farms switching off their turbines in the summer months, to prevent a build-up of unused power.
National Grid made the predictions in its annual Summer Outlook Report, which was published last week.
It says that the continued installation of rooftop panels and solar farms will see the National Grid experience a drop in the amount of electricity needed.’
